Chris Weeks is an incredibly busy photographer based in LA, who has one of the most unique eyes we’ve seen in event and portrait photography. He was generous enough to share the contents of his gear bag, showing us what a real working photog uses. Watch this vid for an uncensored look at the real deal. Keeping up with the current trend toward DSLR/Video shooting, he shares the gear he uses, and may just help you decide what you may need to make that next step. Including a bit o’ cash. To all the retards saying “why dont you just buy a video camera, durrrr.” I’ll just say theres a reason he’s a professional and your an amateur.
can you give a link to that Canadian site that you get your gear from?
good job. Check out the New Camera Mount Clamp.
killer rig but my jaw just drops every time he says “i don’t know what is called” or “I’m a stills guy so..”
SHUT THE FUCK UP “STILL GUY”
@scratchnsurf , I caught that as well, yes, CF card is what it uses.
One area he missed, batteries. I use a battery pack grip when doing video, because even with a large video card you will run out of battery way too quickly with out the battery grip or an external power source. I have numberous batteries and chargers for charging from 12 VDC. I may very soon be using a larger external battery and external power jack.
@scandlous08, yeah, right. ROFL Just depends on what you are shooting. If you are panning quick, then yes, video cam. Otherwise the DSLR is a great video cam.
the video will work without those annoying flashing texts.
cf cards you mean?
Really love this vid. Very informative and I love the shoutouts to Cdn manufacturers. One concern: Only one attachment on the follow focus? Folks suggest to me that I go for a system that attaches to both rods for a more sturdy connection. What do you think?
where can i see some footage shot with this rig?
dude a simple word of advice get a freakin video camera man lol
two 5d mark II’s?
zzzzzzz….
i wish he treated his kit nicer..
There should be a “Jared” mode in my Nikon
I just tested it out. It makes a significant differents. Great tip, Thanx.
3:14 – 3:16 genie style
hope we could have less talk and more photos.
Thanks Jared. Great video, kept it interesting and right to the point. I was wondering does this same method apply to external flash as well? i.e using flash gun?
If you drop the stupid voice emphasis, these vids would be much easier to watch.
does this work with rear curtain sync too?
It’s like you’re talking with my soul. Thanks for these videos. Thanks for going over every point at least 2 or 3 times, because I have trouble getting info to stick.
@TheKangarooguru lenses all the way.
battery grip or lenses?
Wow you have explained well about flash after years of reading so many books.
Jared In this video you mentioned using this technique with wedding photos on the dance floor. Could you post them or provide a link if you already posted them? I would love to see actual use of this…Thanks
Thanks jared, this is just what i need
I have an SB-600 on my D7000. I notice that when I have WB on flash, I get warmer colors, but nearly pastel skin tones. Seems a bit odd to me.
